Opinion & Analysis: What The 9/11 Commission Doesn't Discuss  (part I)

The 2001 Clinton/Gore Transition To The Bush Administration

I'm sure that all remembers the contentious and chaotic 2000 Presidential election which ran essentially from Nov. 7, 2000 to Dec. 13, 2000 and beyond.

Taking this unprecedented event into account, one ask himself, what type of distraction factor this would have played during the transition process from one administration to another? Could it be that this would have contributed to a less than normal transition? The answer would be "absolutely". It was nothing short of a major distraction from the norm. But to what degree and what impact did this have on the present Bush administration. More specifically, could it have been a contributing factor to the national security breakdown which ultimately started during the Clinton administration's years?

Clinton/Gore Administration Trashing the White House at Transition Time

The time has come to revisit this unfortunate occurrence. And not because this is the time to take revenge but to discuss the possibilities that really could exist. Now I don't see how the theft and destruction of property on Air Force 1 could have any national security implications and likewise the theft of other white house furniture and other luxury chattel by the former. But what rises to the level of extreme seriousness is the destruction of computer hard drives full of important information and destruction or theft of files containing the same which was reported to have occurred.

Now, has there really ever been an accurate accounting of what types of information that was deleted, destroyed, moved or stolen? Did the destroyed and stolen or conveniently reallocated computer hard drives have on them information pertaining to terrorism policies? Will we ever know? Will the commission investigate this? One would think rationally, that this is an area that should be explored thoroughly. Because if there was important information that should have been forwarded to the Bush administration regarding national security matters on those hard drives or in those missing files and wasn't because it was destroyed in a rage by disgruntled staffers or "worse", we could suffer potentially more dire consequences in the future because of these acts.

For the Moment, lets face the facts. These terrorist were already operating in our country, and planning for 9/11 by taking pilot training courses right under the Clinton administration's nose long before the Bush administration ever took office. So how is it that the Bush administration is suppose to know about it if the Clinton administration "strangely" didn't know?

Further, it definitely appears to me that the Clinton administration did not have a progressively active anti-terrorism policy, or the terrorist wouldn't have been allowed to enter into our country and leave and re-enter at will unbeknownst in most cases and using multiple fictitious passports. Now, does that sound like there was a coherent anti-terror policy in place by allowing known and unknown terrorist to enter and execute the beginnings of 9/11? I think NOT.   TW 4/7/2004
